Creating two-thirds of American jobs, small businesses do more than sustain the entrepreneurs that lead those companies. They sustain America. Therefore it is imperative that entrepreneurs continue to thrive and one way they can do so is by growing their businesses with the latest tech tools.

Recently, I had the opportunity to talk to small businesses about how they use technology while attending the United States Hispanic Chamber (USHCC) annual convention. And, I get to do it again very soon! I will be speaking at the Verizon Minority-Owned Business Summit on November 17, at the JW Marriot in Houston.

What is the summit all about?

The Verizon Minority-Owned Business Summit is an event created especially for businesses that can benefit from learning the latest in tech solutions geared specifically for SMBs.

The summit is a half-day of panel discussions, keynote presentation and networking with the focus being how small and minority businesses (SMBs) can achieve personal and professional results, inspire their employees, manage their business to new heights, meet peers and share best practices.

Why Attend?

Small business, especially minority-owned business face numerous challenges whether they are just starting out and need to incorporate the basics of technology such as mobile devices or those that are ready to scale and require more advanced services.  The Verizon Minority-Owned Business Summit is an event created especially for businesses that can benefit from learning the latest in tech geared specifically for SMBs.

One of the things I have appreciated from companies like Verizon is that type of support for entrepreneurs like myself and support communities in my home state of Texas. Nearly 120,000 small businesses call Houston home according to Business Journal’s On Number analysis of the U.S. Census Bureau data for 2010. Of those small businesses, Hispanics lead the growth at three times the national growth rate.

ALSO if you are a blogger and you’re interested in building it as a business, attend the free lunchtime workshop where we will be sharing tips and resources on how you can work with brands and generate income from your blogging activity. You will also be eligible to win a new Samsung Galaxy smartphone which to me, at least is an indispensable tool! This workshop is free but you need to register here

Follow the conversation.

If you are in Houston, I hope to see you there on November 17. If you are unable to make it, follow #VZWHoustonSMB on social media to get virtual updates.
