As an ambassador for Verizon, I received the Canary home monitoring system. All opinions are my own.

When I first heard about the set-up-yourself home monitoring systems, I sarcastically thought, “yeah right.” To me, it sounded like a lot of technical work.  So, when I got the chance to try out the Canary, I knew that the first thing I wanted to test out was the set-up process. I wanted to see if it was truly an easy system that anyone can use. The benefits the Canary delivers such as night vision, fish-eye like wide view lens and alarm all sound very nice, but if it’s hard to set-up, then it’s a no-go. Right?

I decided to record myself setting up the Canary system from start to finish and show you in REAL TIME. No rehearsal, no prep. I ended up with about 23 minutes worth of video. I was able to fast forward through the non-action and get a final 13-minute version. Yes, that’s how long the video is. But, if you really are considering a home monitoring system and want to see exactly what the set-up is like, this is it. In reality, I think it would have taken me closer to 10 minutes to set up (really five minutes but the system software update on my phone took up quite a bit of time).

Check it out and let me know what you think. Do you have another system you are using? Would you consider this one?
